China Cry

Not long ago, David Yonggi Cho, senior pastor of the world’s largest church of Seoul South Korea (an estimated 830,000 members presently), made a sobering statement about the current place, purpose and practice of the delivery of prophetic words. In effect, he pointed toward the abuses within such, to say that many have fallen to a practice not unlike “fortune telling,” by predicting events to unfold, solely for the purposes of the self-aggrandizing accolades that follow each accurate prediction therein.

As I read the statement from Yonggi Cho, I was personally challenged, as I had, over a number years, often fallen to the same. Though generally speaking, I have always sought to speak the heartbeat of God in doing so, I had, without consciously premeditating such, fallen prey to a steady diet of affirmations concerning accuracy within predictions. Irrespective of ones’ personal views in this light, and as alarming as this may sound, this practice is dangerously close to the practice of witchcraft.

Granted, the Lord speaks through many, about events to come, however as He reveals such events He also reveals His much larger, redemptive plan as the result. It is the redemptive aspect of prophetic words that Yonggi Cho accurately pointed to, as often being absent. In “layman’s terms,” Yonggi Cho in essence stated that God’s overall program is that of the redemption of mankind. If we are therefore utilizing our gifts for anything else, we have veered off course, and need to get back to the larger program.

I took Yonggi Cho’s word to heart, and have meditated on it for some time.

I have alluded to Yonggi Cho’s sentiments, by way of prelude to a warning that I believe the Lord has given me, regarding China. This word has brewed heavy on my heart since July 7th (07/07/05). Having meditated on Yonggi Cho’s word, I was hesitant to share this word abroad, as I sought to fully understand the redemptive purposes in delivering such, first. I believe at this point, that I have been given a panoramic view of the redemptive purposes of such, and therefore step-out in obedience to deliver such.

When all is said and done, it is our obedience to the things the Lord speaks to us, that will redeem us personally, and will speak redemption to mankind abroad. And so in obedience, I offer the following to you.

Roughly twenty years ago, and during a short season of fasting and extended prayer, I received a vivid vision of a giant who lay sleeping. A few seconds into this vision, and as I sought to gain focus upon his detail and features, I was startled, as the giant began to awaken slightly, and to rustle about in his prone position. Within the closing moments of this vision, I was captivated by the fierceness within the giant’s face. The giant was Chinese. In the final moment of this vision, I was no longer looking at a giant; I was looking at an army that spanned the entire horizon. I saw an army that was without number. The army was marching toward its declared enemy nation—a declared enemy nation that was miniscule by comparison. The army was marching westerly, and the army was so vast in comparison to its declared enemy nation, that the army had to funnel-down to a point, to begin the attack. The vision ended at this point.

For a number of years I sought understanding of this vision, in conjunction with many other visions along the way. For roughly two decades, this vision has remained “on the shelf,” and with no pointed interpretation—until now.

The rate at which Christian conversions are occurring in China, as reported by various mission’s news networks, is nothing less than astounding. The growth and multiplication of the underground church in China is nothing less than miraculous. The endless reports of persecution, torture and martyrdom in China represent measures of godliness, holiness and nobility that many within the Americanized church have yet to comprehend. In light of these profound elements of Kingdom fruit at work China, it would truly be shortsighted of me to focus only upon a consideration of China’s military. However, what I am about to share, I believe, is that worthy of considerable focus in prayer, for those who have been pointedly called to minister to the nation of China.

It is my belief that in recent years, and more so in recent months, tens of thousands of intercessors around the world have received holy downloads of mysterious prayer-burdens for the nation of China. It is also my belief that thousands of these intercessors have responded to this burden, by seeking to understand the Lord’s specific heart-cry for this beautiful people, and this beautiful culture. I wish to ask that the readership of this article would forward such to any persons you know, who feel a pointed call to minister to the nation of China.

I feel strongly that very soon, American news networks, and international news networks abroad will begin to air concerns as the result of the discoveries of Chinese military might and movement. For militarily speaking, I believe that the Chinese military has been for many decades, a “sleeping giant,” that is about to awaken.

In recent years the United States has been touted abroad as “thee super-power.” It is time to think-again.

I have recently discovered that one of the largest steel manufacturers in the western hemisphere holds as its largest and most demanding customer—the nation of China. On the surface, it has been stated that the steel demand from the Chinese government is that in conjunction with explosive growth in business and housing. I happen to believe otherwise. I strongly believe that at least 50% of the steel exporting into China is that relative to a massive military build-up presently underway—a build-up of proportions which will ultimately be alarming upon full discovery, and which will make for captivating news reports—very soon.

God is surly in control of every event that unfolds before us. However, He grants the intercessors among us, the power and the authority to virtually reshape and redirect the unfolding of history—before our very eyes. The Bible is full of powerful stories of how but one intercessory heart has in turn moved the very heart of God, that He would in turn redirect the course of enormous armies. More recent history includes the profound impact that Derek Prince’s personal intercessory impact had upon Germany’s military campaign in the deserts of Africa, during World War II. No less astounding, is that of the exploits of Brother Andrew (“God’s Smuggler to China”). Equally astounding, are the stories of Reuven Doron, who fought in past Israeli conflicts, wherein he and his comrades prayed that the enemy would be confused as they attacked. Reuven witnessed countless enemy soldiers, in the heat of battle, not more than rock-throwing distance from him, who were consumed in utter confusion from one moment to the next. He tells stories of actually feeling pity for his enemy, as they were so easily mowed-down by gunfire.

It is my strong conviction that those presently harboring an intercessory burden for China, can virtually reshape and redirect the growing military giant therein. Thus, my article herein is a call to intercessors-to-China, to begin interceding for the reshaping of history in China.

I am aware that there are a growing number of those who have earned seeming expertise within the study of Eschatology (the study of the Last Days). I am also aware that many may be inclined to retort, following the implications of my vision (i.e., “a vast Chinese military marching upon a tiny nation that is minuscule by comparison”). I have purposefully refrained from divulging what I believe to be the identity of this “tiny nation.” For I believe there are actual demons named “Theology” and “Doctrine,” who perch upon the shoulders of well-meaning Christians, and who egg and prod Christians into theological arguments which quickly mirror the proverbial dog chasing its tail. While these eschatological theologians then fall prey to chasing their tails, the fields of ripe wheat are crying-out for harvest, while the wheat-threshers lay still, and propped against the barn door.

In essence, therefore, and again, the sole purpose of this article is that of sounding the alarm to those intercessors who are called to pray for the figurative womb of China. China is a fascinating, mysterious, beautiful and powerful land—a land that is quickly evolving into a military force that will make for substantial international news focus, and that with surprising context. It is difficult to imagine and quantify the spiritual impact that a comparatively small number of intercessors can make, as they lift the womb of China to the Throne. Nonetheless, know that those who have received such a burden for China, have at their disposal, the authority to redirect history—as it unfolds before us.

I believe that the ultimate end of the vision I had twenty years ago, will come to fruition. However in and through the course of the fulfillment of such, intercessors the world over can effect a wave of salvation-harvest in China that defies the imagination.

End-Times events are unfolding before us. What has been prophesied in scripture will come to pass. This cannot be changed. What can be changed is the number of lost souls in the midst of world wars to come. For soon and very soon, China will surface as an enemy to the western world.

As we reconsider Yonggi Cho’s sentiments with respect to prophetic words, please allow me to remind the reader of who the Chinese people are. They are a people who long to be loved, and who long to love. Deep within their human construct, they are no different than we in the western word. They, like us, are overwhelmed by the sensations of holding their toddlers close, and marveling over the miracle of having children of their own. They, like us, are devastated by the loss of their loved ones. They, like us, and deep within, long to be held, loved, healed and affirmed by their Father in heaven, and by figuratively sitting upon His lap, through intimacy with Him. They have the same God-shaped void within the stratosphere of their psyche’s. They, like us, flash a wide-eyed glance at the Starbuck’s coffee shop at 7:00 a.m. They, like us, muse among themselves over how it is that Willie Nelson can manage to keep his braided pigtails properly cleansed from one day to the next.

Many aspects of Chinese culture and history are those of figurative priceless jewels. They are a people of profound philosophical and literary offerings. They are a people of unimaginable vision and will. When these natural predispositions are redeemed in the form of one saved Saint, the Kingdom fruit in and through the hands of such a Saint is enough to convict the average mainstream American Christian. For I have yet to meet such resolve and fierce determination in mission as that resident in some Chinese Believers I have met in recent years.
